The Heirloom Collection - #BURUxBrooklyn

The Heirloom Collection - #BURUxBrooklyn

To know Brooklyn Decker is to love her. She's truly one of the most genuine, kind, helpful and inclusive people. I was introduced to her, in her Grace & Frankie trailer, (a bizarre place for this small town Kentucky girl to be, BTW) by another amazingly talented woman, June Diane Raphael. I felt an instant connection to Brooklyn—an ease to her that made me, a fish out of water, feel super comfortable. Over the years, a friendship grew.

And during that time, she legitimately became a BURU customer—sneaking her orders in without so much as a peep, mentioning us a favorite place to shop in People Mag, allowing us to dress her for a speaking engagement at a Girl Boss Rally and even showing up at various pop-up shops in North Carolina. For many reasons (obvi) her support meant the world to me, but mostly because it is so genuine. Just like her.

When I approached her about this collaboration in late fall 2020, my first priority was for it to be fun—a creative outlet for the both of us during a bleak time when filming was paused and travel was non-existent. Her first priority was to give back. She immediately committed to the project with the understanding that 100% of her financial earnings from the collab would go to charity—equally divided between The Special Olympics and The Andy Roddick Foundation. Let's just say: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

It has been an absolute pleasure to design The Heirloom Collection with her. A true collaborative effort—her ideas and inspiration pushed me to new places, and I think it is reflective in the pieces.

And speaking of the pieces...let's talk some specifics.  That's likely why you're reading this. Who doesn't love a sneak peek, right?

The Heirloom Collection, named for it's generational and timeless qualities, features 15 individual pieces, 6 of which are reversible, giving the feeling of a 21-piece collection. With a mix of dreamy textiles like jacquards, tweeds, poplins and pinstripes—our goal was to create a fresh spin on treasures you could have discovered in your grandmother's closet.

While focusing on heritage design elements and rich fabrics, we also kept price points in mind. Remembering that we are not in any way a fast fashion company and that this entire collection is cut on demand of dead stock textiles and vintage trimmings and made in the USA in our own factory—the prices range from $158 to $398 (only 1 style comes in at the highest $$$). The truth is that responsible manufacturing does not come cheap, but with multiple reversible styles (giving you two looks in one) and silhouettes designed to withstand the test of time, the prices become more reasonable.
