'Tis the Season for Pumpkin

Liquid error (snippets/picture line 66): invalid url input

This fall a pumpkin obsession overcame me– I bought everything under the sun with the name “pumpkin” in it. To name a few: pumpkin butter, pumpkin pancake/waffle mix, pumpkin pita crisps, pumpkin pie soda, pumpkin muffin mix, pumpkin Greek yogurt, pumpkin body butter. I think you get the picture.

I decided to bring my pumpkin craze into my beauty cupboard and make a Pumpkin Pie Lip Balm & Lip Scrub, inspired by these amazing recipes from Henry Happened

Pumpkin Pie Spice Lip Scrub

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • small pinch of cinnamon

Combine all the ingredients and mix together, then put into a small container.

Pumpkin Pie Spice Lip Balm

  • 2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
  • 1 teaspoon beeswax
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin spice mix (I bought mine from Trader Joe’s)

Put the almond oil and beeswax in a double broiler. Once both ingredients are melted in with each other remove from heat and quickly stir in the honey and pumpkin spice mix. If you take your time, the beeswax will harden. Pour all of the mixed ingredients into a small container and put in the fridge to cool.

There you go! Smack your lips together and breathe in the smell of fall!

If you have any pumpkins left over from your Halloween decorations, don't let them go to waste! Pumpkin can be used as a conditioner for hair or can be made into a face mask that will moisturize and brighten skin. For a more thorough look into the skin benefits of pumpkin, click here.
