We sat down with Ashley chat motherhood, mom style and everything in between. Learn more about this beautiful mama in our exclusive Q&A below.

What do you love most about being a mom?

I love seeing my baby discover the world and learn new things everyday. I love that I get a hand in helping him become a kind, smart, loving person in this world.

How has motherhood changed you?

Motherhood has taught me patience and to be more present.

Tell us about your mini squad.

I have a little boy named Smith who will turn two in December. He is so sweet and already knows exactly what he wants lol.

Did you breastfeed? If so, how did it affect your wardrobe choices?

I did not breastfeed for long, but I did find it difficult to dress and I found myself in lower tops which allowed for easier access!

Has your personal style changed since becoming a mom?  How would you describe your #momstyle?

My eye for style and my love for fashion has not changed, but my day to day wardrobe has a lot! I find myself in workout clothes a lot of days and clothing that is not low-cut or restrictive because when you are on mom duty you are on the floor a lot, bending down, playing etc! And taking a lot of walks!

What are your must-haves from BURU?

What key pieces should every mama have in her closet?

I think every mama needs a chic white blouse that is their go-to whenever they want to feel put-together. I would also say a key pair of tailored denim – probably cropped, and a really chic flat! I don’t wear heels a lot when I am running around with Smith, but I always want to look polished and an elegant pair of flats does the trick! A nice handbag can also really dress up your look!

Tell us about your company. What’s its story or history?

I started The Style Editrix, Inc four years ago after I left my really corporate job with crazy hours. I run my own fashion + lifestyle blog and work as an on camera Style Expert for various TV networks. I love sharing my fashion and beauty tips and tricks through photos and videos and connecting with like-minded women around the world!

What is your favorite and least favorite aspect about running your own business?

I love the flexibility and freedom to do what I love and the creativity that comes along with that. I also always wanted to be on camera sharing information and the blog has given me the platform to do that as well as being able to share my original videos on places like Youtube and Facebook! One thing I hate about running my own business is negotiating money and invoicing!

What does a typical day look like for you?

Everyday is different, which is amazing! But for the most part, I wake up to check emails, post photos promoting that day’s blog post on social media, workout, pitch ideas to brands and TV so we can create cool content, shoot photos or videos, maybe attend an event, then rush home to my baby!

We would love to hear more about your home base?

We live in LA and I love being a mama here! There are so many fun things to do with baby and with my hubby! We love trying new cool restaurants in West Hollywood and some of our faves are Catch, Terroni and Petty Cash Taqueria, but family friendly I would have to say is Bludso’s BBQ, Au Fudge and Joans. We love playing at The Playroom on Ventura Blvd and at the Zimmer Children’s Museum. We also go ride the train, which Smith is obsessed with, once a week at Travel Town – it’s free to get in and to park and the train is very inexpensive!

What does Motherly mean to You?

Warm, kind, loving, supportive and thoughtful.

In one word how would you describe yourself in all the roles you play?

mother: loving

wife: considerate

business owner: determined

friend: loyal

Can you share a few of your favorite mommy moments?

bedtime Story: We read Goodnight Moon every night!

lullaby: I sing Hush Little Baby every night to Smith once he is in his crib.

vacation spot: When we need a little getaway and ‘me’ time we head to Cabo.

restaurant: I love taking Smith to sushi – I love it and so does he. Our new favorite is Daiwa Sushi.

Children’s Brands: Mini Boden, Ice Cream Castles, Splendid

What is the one thing you wish you would have known before becoming a mom?

That you will sleep again!

Words to live by:

Nothing worth having comes easy.
