Loving life at 31 in Maui, Hawaii

BR: What do you love most about being a mom?

MA: I love knowing that my job is to pour as much love as possible into this being- I feel like for the first time, my purpose in this life is in line with my innate nature. Im sure many moms feel the same way. I feel I was born to be a mom!

BR: What is the number one way in which motherhood has changed you?

MA: I have taken a BIG step back and slowed way down. My commitments and social life are now centered around play dates and mommy-walks, not after work drinks and all night parties. Plus, now, living on a small island, I am forced to slow down and enjoy the little things. And what could be a better time to do so than while I'm a new mom?

BR: While breast-feeding, what's the one beauty product you couldn't live without?

MA: Mascara!

BR: What are three key pieces for a breast-feeding mom's closet?

MA: Bandeau tops, button-down shirts, and breast pads.

BR: How did you stay in shape during your pregnancy and while breast-feeding?

MA: Swimming!

BR: What is a typical day like for you and Kezi?

MA: We wake up around 8:30 a.m. with lots of smiles, kisses, and giggles. She reminds me that it is a gift to be alive and that life is full of promises everyday. She is so happy in the mornings! A quick diaper change and then we do some tummy-time and play in the living room while I get ready (quick shower, deodorant, mascara and my fave perfume). Some days we get into the car straight away and head to the beach for a beach walk and dip or into the forest for a little hike. There is always something to do outside everyday! Kezi loves to sleep in the car so she gets some good naps en route. Afternoons we wait for Daddy to come home and then play, play, play. Dinner and sleep by 9pm.

BR: Between family and work, do you ever find time for yourself? How do you unwind?

MA: Hmmm... yes, I try. I do Bikram yoga a couple times a week, which is kind of like torture so I sometimes wonder why I do it. [She laughs.]

BR: What is the one thing you wish you would have known before becoming a mom?

MA: [Babies] hair falls out at four months!

BR: What are a few mommy chic must-haves in your closet?

MA: Chew beads as jewelry, maxi dresses, floppy hats (for bad hair days), and shirt dresses.
