Red, White & You
It's that wonderful time of year again when pool parties and BBQ gatherings are in full swing and the 4th of July is almost upon us!
To prep for the affair, my first step is asking myself one simple question: what do I wear? I know it should be something that's patriotic yet sophisticated, something that's comfortable but chic, and something that's bold but will allow me to nurse in style.

Be comfy yet sophisticated in an Annie Griffin blue and white striped blouse and bold, red wide leg pants from Rachel Pally. Leave the last two or three buttons of the blouse undone and tie at the waist to create a more summery feel.
There's nothing more American than a good pair of blue denim jeans and I LOVE these one from Goldsign because they're as comfy as wearing leggings. Brighten it up with a Rachel Roy's bright red sweater (also available in blue) and a classic white tank and you're ready to watch the fireworks!
For a more formal Independence Day affair, boldly celebrate in a Rachel Pally's maxi wrap dress that's super comfortable, nursing-friendly AND 100 percent washable. What more could a mama want from a maxi dress?
If you're going to be somewhere that gets a bit nippy at night, opt for a chunky cardigan, like this blue one from Rachel Roy (also available in red). Then pair with a basic white tank (I'm obsessing over the one shown above from David Lerner) and these SAM & LAVI red pants that offer a loose fit but oh-so chic!
Cool off on the 4th in refreshing bright blue! The pattern of these Walter Baker elastic waist pants gives a more dynamic look to a clean white blouse and this White + Warren Blue Cardigan. The Sis Sis collarless white blouse shown above is perfect for summer because it's lightweight and breathes easy– definitely a mommy must-have.
Whether you'll be seeing fireworks from the boardwalk or the backyard, a short sleeve maxi dress with a drape cardigan is flexible and stylish for just about anywhere you'll be. This maxi dress from Mothers En Vogue is made of organic cotton, is totally washable AND has a lift up feature at the waistline that makes nursing easy. Sounds almost too good to be true, right? Pair with a long, soft cardigan, like this one from Rachel Pally to stay warm.
Look sharp in a navy blouse with the collar popped to celebrate America's birthday with your loved ones! I love the eyelet detail of this Walter Baker short sleeve button down blouse. Pair with SAM & LAVI's elastic waist pants and White + Warren's zip-up striped cardigan to create a fun outfit for the 4th.
Stay cool in a fresh bright blue sleeveless shirtdress from Aryn K this July. It's perfect for nursing mamas because it has a button at the top that allows the top of the dress to fall open. Pair with a lightweight white cardigan, like this one from White + Warren, to complete the outfit.
A clean cut white look with touches of blue and red offer a fresh look and feel. This Rebecca Minkoff jacket is so summertime fun (and perfect for the 4th) with it's red and blue print trim with silver beading. Pair with Bella Dahl's chambray Navajo print tank and white skinnies, like this pair from Annie Griffin, to complete the look.
Julie Brown's modern take on a classic seersucker dress is the perfect shirtdress to stay cool in on a warm summer's night. To create more of a shape, cinch the waist with a belt and pop the collar. Also pair with a white lightweight cardigan from White + Warren if you're warm summer night is actually a chilly one.
For a more simple, classic style, pair Walter Baker's sharp navy blouse with Rachel Roy's crisp, clean twill cotton skinny pant. Add a a plump red lip and either nude or red heels and you're ready for any 4th of July activities!
For a fun and flirty look, opt for a mixed stripe skirt, like this one from COREY with an elastic waist. Pair with your favorite white nursing tank and Rebecca Minkoff's Andres Jacket with detailed trim to complete the look.
