Real MOVE Monday

Liquid error (snippets/picture line 66): invalid url input

Last night was our last night as Murray, Kentucky residents. Of course it will always be my childhood home and the place where we brought our sweet baby Olive Bee home from the hospital, but as of today – it will no longer be the place we call home.   We are heading west - Salt Lake City, Utah to be exact.

In short, Brett was offered a position that we couldn’t pass up. So after almost two and a half years of everyday togetherness, we are adjusting to a new way of life. The good news is we made it through the long distance portion of the transition relatively unharmed. I mean…I may have thrown a few “why am I a single mom?” tantrums (learned behavior from Olive I presume) but in the grand scheme of things, we kicked this long distance challenge’s ass. I would like to also thank Delta, Southwest, and God of course, for keeping 99% of our flights on time. No doubt that kept my tantrums in check – especially when traveling solo with a toddler.

We are very excited about this new chapter of life. That said, before it begins – we have quite the road trip ahead of us. You see, moving our stuff was pretty easy. I called movers. They packed our stuff. They loaded our stuff. They will soon bring our stuff. Easy peasy. Moving BURU, on the other hand, is an entirely different beast.

As a small business, customer service and efficient shipping is key. We can’t very well expect our mamas to stop shopping their old go-to online retailers for anything short of top notch. When we realized the warehouse would be moving across the country, we had to find a way to keep shipping on the road. So, we stepped up BURU to You’s game. It is no longer just a store on wheels; it is a full on shipping and distribution center – loaded top to bottom with inventory bins and a printing station. If the word gypsy comes to mind, then don’t feel badly. I am thinking it myself.

A straight shot from Murray to SLC takes about 22 hours and 15 minutes. But why would we take a direct route when we can stop along the way for BURU to You shows in Little Rock, Houston, and Dallas!? Wish us luck!
